Lap Low Shelving Two Bay
The Lap Shelving by award-winning designer Marina Bautier is a modular storage solution designed with simplicity in mind. Whether you need a single 1m shelving unit for an alcove or an entire wall of shelving in an office, the lap low shelving is adaptable to work in different environments. Starting with a single unit, you can add extensions to provide you with enough storage. Choose from a frame filled entirely with sturdy steel shelving to house your collection of tomes, or a mixture of trays, deep and shallow boxes with shelves to store a variety of paperbacks and objects. Marina designed the shelving system with this modularity and adaptability from realising the strange way people store objects in a box or on a tray that is then placed on a shelf. Instead, her solution removes the need for a shelf replacing it with a powder-coated steel metal box or tray that hangs from the solid oak or wenge frame. The name "Lap" refers to how the metal overlaps the wood structure. How you arrange the components is up to you, and they can be rearranged at any time.

These can normally be ready for dispatch with in 3 - 4 days as receiving an order.
Made to Order
We work slightly differently to some other retailers where most of our upholstered items are made to order, this way we can produce a product that is unique to you. This process starts with understanding your requirements and our consultants offering furniture solutions that are best suited to you. In terms of fabric there are many possibilities outside of what you just see on this site and we are happy to discuss what will work best for you and your environment.
We strive to keep a selection of our best sellers from the import brands we work with in stock, but to keep this range diverse we aren’t able to hold all items in stock, so a number of our imported items will have lead time out of Europe. We can provide further lead time information during the time of enquiring as this can vary depending on the time of the year.
Graduating from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, the Belgian designer Marina Bautier set up her design practice in 2002. She has gone on to refine her own deft design language to produce work for manufacturers such as Idée, Ligne Roset and Case, and also takes on interior and private client work.
Marina Bautier cultivates a design approach based on use. Away from any pretence, she creates furniture and objects which render many services without ever encumbering.
While she gives priority to simple structures and materials easily manufactured, she also carefully considers appearance and implementation qualities.
Away from technological rhetoric, Marina Bautier emphasizes the beauty and the modernity of familiar materials, and especially of wood. Spotted as ‘the names we’re watching’ by Elle Decoration UK in 2007, she has recently been awarded ‘Best use of Material: wood’ by Wallpaper Magazine.
